Data Center trends 2019: IDC study analyzes decision criteria and the resulting strategies of IT departments in Germany
By investing in data center services, companies plan to increase productivity, consolidate their existing IT, and increase security and compliance at the same time. Disruptive technologies such as IoT, Blockchain, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence are designed to ensure future business success. In order to successfully master this balancing act of "more data" and innovative and secure IT, IDC offers five recommendations for better data center services.
Highlights of the study:
- Software Defined Infrastructure is already being used by the majority of companies or is in the implementation phase.
- 90 percent of the companies surveyed have a cloud strategy. Hybrid solutions are currently even more common than multi-cloud solutions.
- 53 percent of respondents use or plan to use colocation services. This means that colocation has long since become a component of modern data center architectures.
Using e-shelter customer trans-o-flex as an example, we explain the importance of Proof of Concept (PoC) and test environments for validating hybrid cloud scenarios. The e-shelter innovation lab was of central importance for trans-o-flex to validate quickly and cost-effectively new IT solution.
